Slaying The Dragon May 18th, 2013 marked the second annual Bayou Desiard Dragon Boat Festival. The Greatest Bank on Earth was there in full regalia as they made up one of the 29 dragon boat teams to compete for best race time and costumes. The event benefited the Downtown Monroe Renaissance, a nonprofit for the revitalization and growth of downtown Monroe. It was sponsored by Ouachita Independent Bank, The Radio People and Miller Lite. The History of Dragon Boats The Chinese Dragon Boat Race Festival is a symbol of Chinese culture and spirit. As one of the three largest Chinese festivals of the year, this ancient and time-honored celebration can now be witnessed worldwide.
