Our Insurance Department assists customers with consumer, commercial, and residential needs. Our Cross Keys Bank Building Property Manager coordinates office space rentals and leases while managing our other bank location properties. Sure we all have bad days, weeks, and even years, like entering the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic and transitioning into an endemic period that may last a lifetime. Still, at CKB, we managed to turn the lemons of 2021 into the lemonade of high-performance banking by just about any standard, and our customers, employees, and shareholders were all the beneficiaries! 2022 presents the challenges of uncertain economic times as we see the highest inflation rate since the early 1980s. The laws of supply and demand are strongly at play as we experience supply chain problems that exacerbate the ability to keep up with demand. The Federal Reserve has indicated we will see multiple rate hikes this year, and global economic and geopolitical conditions, are all suggestive of our heading into a recession. Yet, with all of the headwinds we face as a nation, as evidenced by our 120 years of service, Cross Keys Bank is well prepared to keep our pledge to help our customers succeed. One thing we all learned from COVID is that the world has rapidly adopted mobile and remote banking convenience. Our response was to offer exciting new enhancements to our repertoire of convenient, virtual banking tools. We will soon introduce you to QUILO (short for “quick loan”), a new consumer loan application you will have at your fingertips on your mobile device and online at www.crosskeys.bank that allows for almost instant approval for qualified applicants. We will also roll out Zelle. Zelle will replace our current P2P mobile payments. Zelle connects banks of all sizes and their customers with a convenient mobile application tool to send money to friends and family. We have ApplePay and will soon have the Apple watch application and the Google and Samsung mobile wallets. To take a line from a very old optimist’s song, “At Cross Keys Bank, we like to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative …”. The future is exciting, and we are so very thankful for the opportunity to have you become a raving fan!

Letter from the Chief Executive Officer, Michael Vizard

Success, defined, is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” It is also defined, as “the attainment of fame, wealth, or social status.” Regardless, the measure of success depends on the intended objective(s) of achievement. In baseball, a .500 batting average would command the highest pay and be considered incredibly successful, but in banking, a .500 batting average of good loans to bad loans would be an utter failure, and a lender with such an average would not be a lender very long. Batting less than 99% in banking, you will soon feel the ill effects. As it is with most things in life, being well prepared and having the proper tools are important components of a successful team and a successful game plan. We are blessed to have a board of directors and a management team that provides us with the proper training and best tools to make us a high-performance community bank. Cross Keys Bank has a history of 120 years of continuous service to our customers; that may be the greatest measure of our success. The success that comes from the combined efforts of our entire CKB family is what inspired one of our officers to suggest our motivational theme and success mantra for 2022: “Teamwork makes the dream work!” permeates the atmosphere of our bank! Poet, Maya Angelou, wrote: “I’ve (We have) learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. Perhaps that best exemplifies the attitude and gratitude of service we bring to our customers, coworkers, and associates. At CKB, we take pride in the fact that we have a motivated team with a winning attitude that

Employee Promotions

Pete Hays Market President, Caddo Parish

Pete is native of Shreveport, LA. When he turned 16, he started working as a bag boy at Albertsons. He attended college at LSU-Shreveport while working at Albertsons in order not to take on student loan debt, graduating in May 1998 with a major in Accounting and debt free. After working at Albertsons for 14 years, it was announced in October 2005 that his store was closing and he was laid off. This allowed Pete to make a career change and in March 2006, he started his banking career with Chase Bank in Monroe, LA.

In March 2015, Pete started with Cross Keys Bank as a Vice President, Commercial Lender. In 2020, he managed the SBA’s Payroll Protection Program for CKB. This included staying abreast of the changing government rules being published daily and keeping the lending team informed of these changes. Between 2020 and 2021, CKB provided over 1,250 PPP loans totaling over $75 million dollars in business funding to small business owners. Pete enjoys the outdoors. He loves fishing, golf, tennis, pickle ball and any other sport, as long as he is playing. He and his wife have been married for over 22 years and have two daughters, ages 13 and 16. Pete has an identical twin brother whom he is often being confused with, so he will answer to the name Joe as well as Pete. Pete currently volunteers as a board member and President Elect for the North Shreveport Business Association, a non-profit association with a mission to educate, inform, and provide beneficial services to business and community members and actively represent, promote, and support the business community of North Shreveport.

Taylor Hoffman Loan Officer, Tallulah

Taylor was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana, where she attended Ouachita Parish High School. She attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe before taking time off to decide which major was best for her. During Taylor’s time at ULM, she was an Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority member. She worked at CenturyLink for three years before coming to Cross Keys Bank. She started at Cross Keys Bank in Monroe as a teller in December of 2015, and from there, Taylor began to gain interest in banking and everything it entails. After her promotion to Universal Banker, she decided to finish her degree. Taylor will graduate in December 2022 with a degree in Business. Her Cross Keys Bank

work family has always encouraged her to do more, so in July of 2020, she took the notary exam and passed. Taylor moved to her husband’s hometown of Tallulah in 2019 and began working at the CKB Tallulah branch. She and her husband married in 2020; they have two dogs, Bayou and Mojo, and a four-year-old son (stepson), Lucas. They enjoy spending time outdoors, whether going to Lake Bruin during the summer with friends and family or hunting and fishing. Taylor is excited to see what the future holds for her at CKB as a new lender.

Marcella Vinson Assistant Vice President, Executive Assistant, St. Joseph

Marcella has been with Cross Keys Bank since 1976. She and her husband Mike live on Lake Bruin. They have three children, Dale (Beth), Erin (Matt), Matt (Cortney) and six wonderful grandkids, Garrett, Taylor Ann, Ashlynn, Matti, Lane and the newest addition JoeLeigh. They are active members of Maryland Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Favorite past times; cooking and shopping with Grans and beaching with the family.

Cross Keys Bank Employee Awards Recognition Unfortunately, this year, due to the pandemic and venue constraints, we could not gather for Employee Day as we have done annually. So, like in 2021, we held a Cross Keys Bank Virtual Employee Day event to recognize the successes of our employees. Mandy Smart and Shane Bridges attended ICBA LIVE, the largest annual gathering of community bankers, in San Antonio where they had the opportunity to meet ICBA President & CEO, Rebecca Romero Rainey.

Leadership School Johnny Williams from our Rayville branch completed the Louisiana Bankers Association 2021 Leadership School, “Growing our Next Generation of Leaders.” The six-month program included online coursework and five instructor-led sessions focused on developing leadership skills and enhancing knowledge in various areas of banking.

Cross Keys Travel Club About nine years ago, we formed a partnership with Collette Travel Company to offer guided group travel to our customers and friends. We chose Collette because of their 100-year history of providing excellent service across the world. We like their practice of grouping less than 40 travelers in new Mercedes- Benz coaches. Collette provides an experienced Tour Manager who will be with us for the entire trip. We have now made 15 trips and visited 19 countries. From Canada to Australia, and from Costa Rica to much of Europe, we have enjoyed great experiences. We’ve also seen a lot of the USA, including Alaska, New England, Hawaii, and NewYork City. Our groups have been as large as 26 and as small as six. Many of our travelers have taken multiple trips with us and recruited their relatives and friends. This has resulted in people from Seattle, Albuquerque, St. Louis, Virginia Beach, Houston, Dallas, Ohio, and Florida meeting up with us along the way to new adventures. Many friendships were formed from these mergers and they have continued and strengthened through Facebook. Since Collette travels the world, we have seen the beaches of Hawaii and Normandy, the skyscrapers of NewYork City and London, the rain forests of Costa Rica and the Northern Lights of Iceland, the Canadian Rockies and the Alps. We’ve seen the beauty of the Irish Seacoast and the horror of Auschwitz, the joy of a Times Square Saturday night, and the solemnity of military cemeteries. We’ve seen grizzly bears and kangaroos, whales and quetzals, water buffaloes and koalas, sea lions and Icelandic horses, highland cattle and Howler Monkeys. Due to the experience and excellence of the Tour Managers at Collette, through all of our trips we were never alone, never lost, never late and never, ever hungry. In fact, we’ve had a hot dog in Central Park, poi in Honolulu, haggis in Glasgow, lobster in Cape Cod, lasagna in Rome, escargot in Paris, wiener schnitzel in Innsbruck, sauerbraten in Berlin, fish and chips in London, salmon in Anchorage and, of course, chocolate in Switzerland. The pandemic has grounded us for over two years, but we plan to carefully return to travel when we can safely do so. We have used the down time to improve the quality and variety of our travel options. We’ve added a choice of more free time or an optional guided tour to a venue not on the list. We offer pre-night and post-night hotel rooms to better enjoy the cities where our tours begin and end. And we increased the dining options for group meals, while also providing our popular lunch breaks where diners can choose their own restaurants or sidewalk cafes to truly enjoy the local flavors.

Our next group trip is uncertain at this time, but if you would like to be notified please contact us. Also, if you already have a destination in mind, we can provide information and make reservations through our connections with Collette for any trip that is going where you want to go.

LBA Skeet Shoot Fundraiser

Cross Keys Bank put together a team for the Louisiana Bankers Association First Annual Skeet Shoot Fundraiser at Dave’s Bayou Lodge. The money raised benefited the Louisiana Bankers Education Foundation to promote financial literacy in our state.

St. Joseph Back to School Bash In August, our St. Joseph branch enjoyed the beautiful weather at the Back to School Bash on Plank Road. DeShawn Johnson, Robin McVay, and Marcella Vinson helped keep everyone hydrated and passed out goodies. Marcella also took the opportunity to donate blood while she was there!

Pilots for Patients Pilot Florence with Pilots for Patients flew from Coushatta to Monroe to pick up patients Dot and Mark and then flew them to Houston for their appointments. Florence has flown over 175 missions since joining Pilots for Patients, and her dedication to the organization shines!
